Short Film- Spin

The film spin is all about a DJ who “plays God” using a DJ deck. The film ingeniously uses the DJ’s deck to act as life which can be altered by turning the vinyl or playing with switches. I believe the film was used to emphasise the point that every little thing that is done in life has consequences. I believe it was mainly aimed at teenagers due to the nature of the film being about God being a DJ and life being like a song on a vinyl. Primarily i believe the film was to be targeted at males in particular as it is a male dominated text piece and all females shown are generally portrayed as innocent or weak. I believe the piece would be rated as a PG as there is little violence with no emphasis on blood or gore and there are only short periods where drugs were introduced into the film. This film would be distributed at a film festival as the shot sizes were too large for an internet based production. It also uses some very clever editing techniques which would want to be shown off at a film festival. The main character that plays the DJ suits the role very nicely. The costume along with his characteristics makes him seem to be a street style DJ. The initial setting which is in an alley makes you believe that he person may be thrown out of a house in a rundown area. However the main setting which is on a street plays the perfect location for the street DJ to play. The soundtrack used is a very upbeat piece which bridges over all edits used. It gives the audience more of an impression as to what the movie is about.
