Short Film- Love Field

The film love field was cleverly used to challenge the first impressions of a viewer. Initially it seems like the man has just raped and murdered someone by the use of props i.e. bloody underwear, and camera work i.e. slow pans. However in the end the film shows a woman has just given birth to a child. The producer seemed that he wanted to challenge not only the audience’s first impression but also their stereotypical views. The man who was helping the woman was dressed in ragged clothing and was tattooed. It gave the impression that he was not a good person. I believe the target audience was any adult as they would identify and exploit the stereotypes they believe. Also only adults would really understand what was happening in the film and what was actually being implied during the main sequence. I believe it would be certified as a 12a due to the blood and disturbing nature of the film. I believe that this film piece would be shown in a film festival to showcase the directors talent. The setting is vital to this piece because the narrative would not have really implied rape if it was to happen in a town centre in daylight. The remoteness of the area makes everything seem slightly more horrific. The soundtrack is dominated by stringed instruments with high pitches to give the illusion of a horrific scene.
